Rodrigo Toro Madrid & Sarina Scheidegger – Week 1 – Arriving & Settling

We are two artists, one from Santiago Chile, one from Bern, Switzerland, both living currently in Basel. 

One is working with performance, text, textiles and ceramics and the other one with sound, machines, wind, waves and everyday life mechanics. In our first week at SASSO we installed our tiny set up of portable tools and materials: a small weaving device, a handmade recorder, 5 kilos of clay, a light table and markers, a bunch of books and some contact microphones. We were exploring the house and all its hidden corners, the garden with its insects and herbs, all the windows with their view to the lake, the kitchen with its ingredients and the various streets which lead to the shore. 

The house offers material to build, to draw, to explore views and sounds. With it we aim to combine our own practices and merge them into a collaboration which could be an edition containing sound, ceramic, voice and noises.
