Tommaso, Claudia, M.Cecilia, Simone, Marco – Week 1

Hi! We are Claudia Palmarucci, Maria Cecilia Tantucci, Simone Sdolzini, Tommaso Moretti, Marco Marinangeli from Macerata. We are here, in Sasso Residency, to work on a collective book, illustrated with the technique of xylography and inspired by the essay by Gilles Clément, “Manifeste du Tiers paysage”, published by Quodlibet in 2003.

The “third landscape” can arise, according to Clément, in parks, in large uninhabited areas, in abandoned industrial spaces: almost invisible ravines where, protected by the total absence of human activity, brambles and scrubs grow accommodating biodiversity and transform into a shelter for animal species that are repelled by herbicides and considered as “parasites” by a mightier “parasite”: man.

The xilographies will sprout from a reflection in these regards and will be printed with a portable handmade printing press.

During these days we are talking about the project, researching natural references around the house and printing a color test.

Our book is going to call Erbacce.
